Dear Professor,
It is so kind of you to reply. I shall attach my only bit of data, which is a "Sad Sack" cartoon drawn by Sgt George Baker and polished in Yank magazine. It may be that the restriction was only for a part of Paris, since it looks like the sign may say “Orleans Precinct,” but it does not add up altogether; Orleans is in the opposite direction from the Marne.
I have not heard from my friend in Paris now for many years. If you like I can try to get ahold of her.
